One of the best ways to clean your hardwood floors is to use a Roomba. If you are looking for the best Roomba for hardwood floors, then here is everything you need to know about it.

After spending many hours doing thorough research and testing different Roomba models, we chose the iRobot Roomba 891 as the perfect vacuum when cleaning hardwood floors. It did an amazing job of picking up the dirt and dust from our floors.

You can read more on our impressions with the vacuum further down in this article. Before that here is a thorough guide that will help you decide which one is the best for you!

Is it safe to use a Roomba on hardwood floors?

While you cannot safely use all kinds of vacuum cleaners and robot vacuums on your hardwood floors, there are some Roomba’s which are specially made for cleaning your hardwood floors. These Roombas do not have any sort of stiff brushes or ends which can scratch or leave marks behind on your hardwood floors.

The height of the Roomba should be enough that the machine does not drag along your floors, causing any damage to them.

What can the Roomba clean off your hardwood floors?

The best Roomba which you can get for your hardwood floors can clean everything; from dust, dirt, debris, pet hair and dander, allergens and small particles from your hardwood floors. In fact, the best Roomba will be able to easily navigate itself around your whole house, going from the hardwood floors to over the carpets, cleaning your home thoroughly.

How often do you need to empty the dust bag of your Roomba?

While traditional vacuum cleaners require you to clean out the dust bag and filters once every few uses, to ensure that your Roomba is working optimally, you should clean out the dust bag after every use.

The Roomba is far smaller than a traditional vacuum cleaner, and the dust box capacity is not as large, this is why your Roomba will just function much more efficiently and clean your home better if you can clean out the dust box regularly after every use.

How do you clean the Roomba?

You should not be cleaning out the entire Roomba, but just the dust box and the filters. There are sensors, electrical wiring and other connections which can easily damage if you expose them to moisture or cleaning agents, so simply wipe the top and bottom of your Roomba when you wish to clean it.

As for the dust box and the filters, you should clean them out with soap and warm water only, and no other kind of cleaning agents. Only once the filters and dust box is completely dry, should you place it back into your Roomba for the next use. Be very careful not to place the filter or dust box back into your Roomba while they are still wet, as it can damage the machine.

How long will a Roomba clean your hardwood floors for?

Well, this depends upon the setting that you have configured on your Roomba. For specific settings, the Roomba will offer spot cleaning or a max mode cleaning, whereas for other settings you can opt for a complete cleaning of your hardwood floors.

Once your Roomba finishes a full charge, it should last for about 2 hours to completely clean your hardwood floors. In case the Roomba is running low on charge, it will automatically find its way back to the docking station. There it will remain till it charges fully once again. After this, you can schedule your Roomba once again to clean your hardwood floors.

Can the Roomba run during the night?

Yes, you can run the Roomba during the day time or night! Simply schedule the timing for when you want your Roomba to clean your floors, and the Roomba will automatically clean and vacuum and then return back safely to its docking station once it is done.
